Koos Bouwer Consulting is a small business with the focus to provide good value-adding solutions to their customers. Pride of workmanship is the driving force behind good quality solutions. We do not have a standard product for sale and we do not follow standardized (commercialized) methodologies. As engineers we have the skills and knowledge to evaluate business processes and to develop concept solutions with the best fit and value add for the client’s business circumstances.
The business has one permanent member (Koos Bouwer). Larger projects are handled in association with other professional consultants by formation of a project team as determined by the project requirements.
Mr J.J. Bouwer – Hons. B Eng(Mech/Industrial), M. Eng, MBA, Pr. Eng.
30 years’ experience in industrial engineering applications and general business management.
Koos grew up on a citrus farm in the Eastern Cape and then studied mechanical/industrial engineering at the University of Stellenbosch. He started his working career in the armaments factories of Denel where he gained valuable, hands-on experience in quality assurance, productivity improvement, production planning/control and procurement. Fifteen years later he joined the fruit export industry at Unifruco, starting with the design and distribution of packaging material, and most aspects of logistics in the export supply chain of Capespan. During this period of ten years most of his contributions were about the optimization of the supply chain, including information flows, facility lay-out and concept design, operational procedures and material handling. Since 2006 he continued this work as an independent industrial engineering consultant and has the ability to highlight business improvement opportunities in quantifiable and practical terms.
Dr Malcolm Dodd has a PhD in Plant Physiology and an expert in post harvest handling of fresh produce. We worked together on a cold chain assessment for Woolworths, on cold storage efficiency at PnP distribution centres and on a PHI-project for improved utilization of refrigerated shipping containers.
Siraj Williams is an Electrical Engineer and we worked together on the pumping system efficiency for the Two Oceans Aquarium and a water management solution for Migra Textiles. Siraj is also a co-facilitator for NCPC-SA training courses.

She is working as a consultant in the environmental science practice and is also project manager for Confronting Climate Change Fruit and Wine. We worked together on a project for the IDC on a market study and financial model development aimed at improving water and energy efficiency for irrigation on agricultural sites throughout South Africa.
Gerhard Bouwer is an industrial/electronics engineer. We worked together on various projects over a period of 7 years. These include the development of carbon calculators, energy efficiency assessments, developing a pallet testing device, and the implementation of bespoke production planning and stock control solutions for various clients.
Ivan Badenhorst is an Industrial engineer and we worked together on the energy management system for DuToit Agri and on the production planning system for Joos Joiners.
